Abstract

Horror Escape Room is a Unity-powered VR experience built for GMU CS 452 Spring 2026 that challenges players to survive inside a hostile, low-visibility environment. The core objective is to locate three hidden items scattered across the map while avoiding creature encounters and racing against a strict timer. Players start with ninety seconds, and each collected item adds thirty seconds, creating a dynamic risk-reward loop between exploration and escape. The game combines spatial audio, lighting control, environmental storytelling, and pressure-driven pacing to heighten immersion on Meta VR headsets. Beyond gameplay, the project demonstrates end-to-end production skills: interaction design, scene composition, animation and sound integration, objective tracking, and polished presentation for public demo and evaluation.

About The Game

Horror Escape Room is a VR survival challenge where players explore a haunted house to find 3 scattered items before time runs out. You begin with 1:30 on the clock, and every item adds 30 seconds. Built in Unity 6000.3.9f for Meta VR headsets, the game blends atmosphere, tension, and puzzle-driven exploration.
